Farm to Table.
Farm to Table is our homeschool support program inspired by the old-fashioned “one-room farm schoolhouse.” It is a five-hour, outdoor drop-off program for children ages 5–11. Students are grouped into Youngers, Middles, and Olders Pods based on age, each learning around one large table with their own head teacher on our 3.5-acre farm. Designed to support—not replace—homeschooling families, Farm to Table provides academic guidance across core subjects. Language Arts, Math, Geography, Art, and Science are woven throughout the day using our proposed daily schedule. Learning unfolds outdoors with a consistent structure that blends workbook time, read-alouds, discussion, hands-on farm experiences, and child-led exploration.
Located at the Carpinteria Children’s Farm on the Carpinteria bluffs, our 3.5-acre plot overlooks the beach and distant mountains. The farm features eucalyptus trees, a pasture field for four grazing sheep, an avocado grove with more than 170 avocado trees (complete with bee boxes), and expansive farming and gardening areas. It is home to ducks, chickens, sheep, rabbits, a female Bernese Mountain dog that absolutely loves children, and 3 farm cats. Surrounded by miles of bluffs hiking trails and the beach!

More about Farm to Table.
What do we mean when we say Farm To Table: multiple-subject & multiple-grade-level, farm school, homeschool support program?
The founder and director’s vision is to have children of differing ages all learning together and helping each other learn, alongside our caring teachers, in the core subjects of Language Arts, Math, History, Science, and Art. This vision comes from two inspirations:
1. The most-used place in their home is the huge table in their kitchen. It’s at the kitchen table where they eat, learn, and spend quality time together. They have 5 children ranging from 4 to 16 years old. Some of their children are just beginning to learn letters, while others are learning to write essays. Some are just learning to write numbers, while others are completing algebraic equations. Sometimes the older children help guide the younger children with concepts they have already mastered. They teach Science and History lessons to multiple age groups together, knowing each child will experience different levels of comprehension and mastery depending on what is age- and developmentally appropriate.
2. One-room farm schoolhouses have been an important part of American history for hundreds of years. Do you remember the beautiful one-room country schoolhouses, like the ones in the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder? Our family loves this series.
Children ages 5–11 all learn in one space, split into different tables based on age-appropriate learning, and are taught by their own teacher. Some subjects are taught together, and some are separated by age. While we aim to group students into closer academic learning pods in small groups, we have been inspired by the “one-room schoolhouse” and by many seasoned homeschooling families who found something good that worked!
At Farm to Table, we want parents to feel confident that when their children are dropped off for the day, they will have a structured time in their workbooks, through discussions, read-alouds, and hands-on learning experiences in core subjects like Language Arts, Math, History, Science, Nature Studies, Art, and seasonal group projects. While we have a structured daily proposed schedule, we often adapt to child-led, child-interest learning moments as well.
Why choose Farm to Table? Farm to Table addresses many of the challenges that homeschool parents face. Parents can rest assured that their children will receive all the core learning from qualified, caring teachers every day of the program. Another huge benefit for many families is the children’s opportunity to experience this learning outside in a beautiful, healthy, natural environment, and to have a great time doing all of this alongside their peers.
We often hear three things from parents:
I don't like that my children are inside all day.
My children need more social opportunities and often spend large amounts of time by themselves.
I don't feel confident to teach certain subjects (beginning reading, science, math, etc.) and could use support.
Farm to Table wonderfully exceeds those needs and provides a place for children to thrive.
Take the Next Step.
